Ok I know a lot of you probably don't want to read in the summer, but if theres anyone out there who actually likes to read haha this is the post for you!
1. The Summer I Turned Pretty Series by Jenny Han
Ok so I'm pretty sure I've talked about this series before but its honestly worth talking about again! And not to mention it has the word summer in it so you know I had to include it! If you have not read any work by Jenny Han, you're missing out. She is by far one of my favorite authors ever! Her books are relatable, funny and have the cutest stories. "The Summer I Turned Pretty", in my opinion, has an odd title but its a super cute three part story that I would honestly recommend to anyone plus the story is based in the summer making it perfect for a summer read duh.
2. To All The Boys I've Loved Before Series by Jenny Han
Ok well since I already brought up Jenny Han, I thought I would tell you guys about another series of hers that is honesty so good! This one is about a girl who writes love letters about her crushes and when she's done she stows them away and never looks back. This was her secret method of getting over her crushes until one day her little sister discovers them and decides to send them out to each of the boys. This three part story tells the tale of what comes next and its honestly one of the most entertaining, cringey, hilariously adorable series I have ever read.
3. My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick
Ok so this one is more of a romantic rom com. As in more rom than com. True that the previously mentioned stories are also rom coms, but this one is just a little extra you know. There are three novels that are kind of interrelated by Fitzpatrick, and from all three I have to say that "My Life Next Door" is by far my favorite! Its cute, the characters are adorable and truth be told I find the other two novels a bit dragged on and kind of annoying. This story is kind of the classic boy next door thing. Rich girl envies the life of the crazy large family next door and develops a crush on one of the boys. They end up dating but she must keep him a secret from her high profile mother who considers being associated with "one of those Garetts" equivalent to being run over with a truck. Its a rocky road but a cute classic story.
4. Lola and The Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins
Geez ok lots of boys next door I guess in the writing world. So again, similar to Fitzpatrick, Perkins has written three novels that are interrelated and I have to say that this one is my favorite. To be honest I love all three, but I just love this one a bit more. The reason why? Im not really sure I just love the characters and although it seems like the classic boy next door story, like the one previously mentioned, "Lola and The Boy Next Door" has a unique twist. The characters are super fun and a bit out of the ordinary and I feel thats what makes this story stand out from the rest! Its about a girl who dresses up like a different person every day. She lives a pretty normal life, except for the fact that she spends every minute being reminded of a boy who hurt her in the past. She, for the most part, has gotten over it until one day he suddenly returns back to the house next door, and all her old feelings are rekindled. This cute story about Lola and Cricket is definitely my favorite from all three novels by Perkins, but I would definitely recommend all three!
5. Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson
Ok so since all the books I've mentioned thus far are rom coms, lets switch it up a little. This book is about friendship. Sounds kinda cheesy but this book is about two best friends. You know the classic blonde and brunette, outgoing and shy, extrovert and introvert. Well this story is a little more than that. Basically Sloane, the designated "outgoing" one suddenly disappears one day leaving her shy BFF, Emily, completely lost. But you see Sloane didn't just disappear, she left a note. Actually its more of a list. A list of things that Emily must do in order to bring Sloane back. But this is not some ordinary list, its a list of things that are so far out of Emily's comfort zone you can't even read within cringing, but in a good way. So lets just say this book sets you up to witness the hilarious unexpected summer that Emily is about to embark on and trust me it does not disappoint.
6. We Were Liars by E. Lockhart
This book. Ok now this one is one of the most interesting novels I have ever read and its honestly probably the one farthest from what I usually read. This detail packed novel tells the story of the picture perfect Sinclair family-or what looks like picture perfect. This mysterious novel describes the perfect Sinclair family and how every went drastically wrong all in one summer. One mistake changes the lives of the seemingly flawless family. I don't want to spoil any of it for you so you'll just have to discover for yourself! All I'll say is they were liars.
